Cole Kitchen Renovation

Built in 1911 in the Cole neighborhood of Denver, the historic charm of this Victorian house is most especially on display in the original wood casing and trim. The owners wanted a more open connection between the kitchen and dining room and to update the kitchen with modern functionality while preserving some of the old Victorian detail.  For this project, we focused on a simple yet punchy style with green cabinets balanced with a white subway tile backsplash. We added crown molding to the cabinets as a nod to the home’s original details and a throwback schoolhouse style pendant light above the sink to bring in more of that traditional aesthetic.  To create the open connection, we demolished the wall between the dining room and kitchen, which had the added benefit of allowing for more natural light to fill the space.
